We're in the White Mountains now (northern part) in New Hampshire at a nice park called White Birches, $35/night full hookups, right near the border between NH and Maine.  We started looking for a place yesterday morning before we left Burlington and every place was full except this one so we took it not knowing exactly what we were getting into.  But it turns out it's a really nice family park where lots of locals come--lots of kids for the holiday weekend and people are very friendly--interested in us Californians.

Back in North Dakota (or thereabouts) when we stayed at the fairgrounds, we met a couple from New Hampshire that was doing the reverse of our trip.  They forgot to take down their antenna when they left so borrowed our ladder to fix it so we got to talking to them about the east coast.  They're the ones who told us how to pronounce Bah Habah, Maine:)  Friendly folks here in New Hampshire.

We just passed through most of Vermont and New Hampshire but it was beautiful.  We loved the quaint little towns with lots of high church steeples and neat old style homes.  Lots of green here.  The weather has been GREAT!  We passed by the state capitol building in Montpilier which was really something.  We didn't see any covered bridges which is probably a good thing since we probably couldn't fit through them anyway.

Like I said this is a family park and last night we heard some loud voices and singing and thought, "could this be a revival or something like that?"  Denny went nosing around and found a large outdoor movie screen where they were playing Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Faction:)  Pretty cool.  I wonder what they'll show tonight.

There is a little river just outside the park that the locals say is nice and calm, no rapids, so we will check that out today for kayaking possibilities.  We also passed some beautiful golf courses.  Maybe the guys will give that a try.

Thanks for all your comments everyone.  We really love them.  I plan to post some pictures later today or this evening.  Bye for now.

  1. We missed going through Vermont. It sounds wonderful. Sounds like you found a nice park. It is always hard on the holidays. Have fun!
